Balkan Marriage Customs

Wedding ceremonies are typically seen as a sign of love between two persons and a new beginning in career in today’s society. They were, however, much more than that in the past Union festivities were customarily special occasions that involved not only the couple but likewise their loved ones and frequently the whole neighborhood.

Numerous intriguing customs can be found in the Balkans after union. Some of them are however intact, while others have been abandoned in the wake of the present time.

The hair and wrapping ritual, or” Kolaanja,” is a well-known ritual in Albania. Fresh girls typically accompany it with unique dedicated tunes, and it is performed by them. This ritual is intended to protect the bride from negative riches and make sure the bride’s hair will be as beautiful as possible.

The” svozhdane” in Bosnia meet single slovenia women and herzegovina is another traditional ceremony. Following the wedding, the bride and groom are separated in a specially set room at night. In the interim, guests will present a living tommy sheep or memory to the princess’s parents in the form of a party by breaking a roofing tile or a piece of crockery.

Similar to this, there are several customs in Kosovo that aim to maintain a relaxing marriage between a mother-in-law and a daughter-in-law. One of them is the mother’s habit of licking the newborn from the bride’s side. This demonstrates the bride’s commitment to her community and a close relationship.
