Balkans Ceremony Traditions

The bride festival, or svozhdane as it is called in Bosnia and herzegovina, has many practices that are a part of the government’s society. They reflect the multicultural background of the region and the complicated way of life in it The bridal lasts for three days and nights, and it’s attended by the entire community. Gals and female help to prepare meals for guests, fry pies and bakery, clear wheat in the fields, and sing repetitive songs. People execute banjos and cifteli and throw cigarette to friends.

Throughout the Balkans, every country and trust has its own customs about how a wedding really appear like. But the ones from the Balkan are especially interesting and unusual. We’ll talk about some of them in this article and give you a taste of what it was to be a bride or groom in the past.

A lot of the beliefs that happen during a Serbian ceremony are connected with the belief that bad spirits and demons may great wicked means on people. That is the reason why a bride festival had to be packed with aspects that may protect the couple from their evil eyes. There were also additional beliefs that had to be followed, depending on the area. For example, in Montenegro, it was a practice to move over a doormat that had been covered in weapons since this was supposed to guarantee that the brides bosnian brides may have female youngsters.
